He helped found Texas A&M's International Pump Users Symposium, worked as an editor on Hydrocarbon Processing magazine, and served as chairman of a yearly International Process and Power Plant Reliability Conference for close to a decade.

A few years later, as Bill watched from his wheelchair, Al Atkinson, a superb linebacker, walked off the field of Super Bowl III having helped the New York Jets beat the mighty Baltimore Colts. Steve McWilliams volunteered to help Bill Atkinson. He thought that this good deed would give him cred with God if God existed and Steve was also too nice a guy to say No when a friend asked him to help out with the care of a Father Bill. About the Author
Steve McWilliams is a Philadelphia playwright, screenwriter, and producer. He holds degrees from Rutgers, Villanova, and Temple Universities. He holds an M.A. in Theater Arts from Villanova and an M.F.A. in Play and Screen Writing from Temple University. In addition to his M.F.A., Steve studied scriptwriting under Granville Burgess, Robert Hedley (Iowa Playwrights Project) and Jeffrey Proehl. He is the author of a number of produced stage plays and has several screenplays to his credit. He has worked as a producer on several award winning documentaries including Price of Life, Coming Off The DL, Chulucanas, The Bocay Project, and Rust Bucket Anthem. He has also created and produced several television shows. Currently, Steve teaches theater and film at Villanova University in Pennsylvania.

A Possible Future Modern Day Saint

This book is the introduction to an Augustinian priest who taught for over 25 years at Msgr. Bonner High School in Upper Darby PA. His injury occurred during his first year at the Seminary. He was the first quadraplegic to ever be ordained. The book resulted from over 25 hrs. of conversations between the author, Steve McWilliams, and Fr. Atkinson that were recorded and transcribed during the last 2 years of his life. Mr. McWilliams, currently a faculty member at Villanova University, was one of Fr. Atkinson's many students and eventually one his many caregivers. Fr. Atkinson died on September 15th, 2006 at the age of 60. The process has just started to have him considered for Sainthood.

About The Book

This is probably for the first time that a serious study of Deities of Rig Veda has been made with the help of modern research methodology and science to find out what the Rishis had said, a few thousand years back, about the Deities. Efforts were also made to identify these gods. It is a finding of great importance that what Rishis had said about these gods is being corroborated by the western science today.

Dr. Gupta has grouped these 33 gods of Rig Veda in three categories: (i) Natural Phenomena Gods—Sky, Earth, Fire, Air and Water. All the material things are produced by their permutations and combinations. These five natural phenomena gods have their subgods also. For example, Agni has Surya Agni (Nuclear energy), Apan Napat Agni (Agni in the sky like lightning), Davanal (Agni on Earth), Badvanal (Agni in the oceans or water) and Jathragni (Agni in the body); (ii) Gods connected with soul energy such as Vishnu (can be compared with a modern generating station), Brahama, who induces the tiny, invisible, weightless particles of soul energy in all the living beings to give them life, Shiva, who, at an interval of time, takes out this particle of soul energy from all the living beings and they all become dead, and Yama, who and whose assistants take these tiny particles of soul to a place called Yama Loka; (iii) Craftsmen gods such as Vishvakarma, Tvastha and Ribhugan who assemble and mix the five basic elements in different proportions to create structures or forms so that soul-particles can be introduced in them; and (iv) Miscellaneous gods such as Rishis and other men, animals (cow, frog’, etc.) raised to godhood, and other important things like meaning of prayer, does Rig Veda give history etc.

About The Author

Dr. S.S. Gupta (b. January 1, 1929) is M.A. (Delhi), Ph.D. (Aligarh) and D.Litt. (Agra). He started his career as a Lecturer in Economics at the prestigious D.S. Post Graduate College, Aligarh. He became a Head of the Deptt. and thereafter Principal of the D.S. Degree College. He took premature retirement in 1987, after 37 years of distinguished service. He has been a popular teacher and a reputed scholar. After retirement he was appointed as the Vice- Chancellor of the Agra University. Dr. Gupta is a serious student. He has inter-disciplinary interests. So, he writes on several subjects with authority. He has a prolific pen. He has always broken new grounds and given new dimensions. He has written more than 100 articles and has 16 published research books to his credit. The most famous ones are: Report of Socio- Economic Survey of College Students (1957), Utilisation of Electricity in the Villages of the Distt. of Aligarh (1969—Financed by R.P.C., Planning Commission, New Delhi), Valmiki Ramayan Men Rajya Evam Arth Vyavastha (in Hindi) (1976—Govt, of U.P. gave an award), Economic Philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi (Published second time in 1994— Govt, of India distributed the earlier edition in the Gandhi Centenary Year) and Time Honoured Hindu Practices (1996). Even the Nobel Prize Winner, Professor Gunnar Myrdel, has quoted him and the Hindustan Times wrote three articles on his survey report of College Students.

Dr. Gupta was associated with a number of Social Service Clubs like Lions Club and Rotary Club. He was also a Member of the Zonal Advisory Committee, L.I.C. (Kanpur Zone).

Innovative useful research!

S.S. Gupta has done wonderful and creative research into connecting the deities in the Rig Veda with various scientific principles. His innovative thoughts should inspire us all. Especially useful is the fact that he gives the verse locations of the individual names, such as Agni, Surya, Soma, Vaya, etc. - so that without having to know the entire Rig Veda, we can search out the verses relevant to the respective Sanskrit names. I thank him for his valuable research.

For example: In the Rig Veda, Soma is said to be the procreator of Surya [the Sun's energy, rays & radiation] (IX.96.5); Soma sees inside hidden things and knows all rays (IX.96.7); is the Sun-world (IX.96.18); giving birth to the luminous world of heaven, birth to the Sun in the Waters, clothes himself with the Waters and the Rays (IX.42.1); has generated the light in the Sun (IX.97.41); you [Soma] are the Lights of the Sun (IX.86.29); [Soma] is the procreator of Agni [Fire in all forms], procreator of Surya [the Sun's energy] (IX.96.5); no earthly person can taste (or enjoy) you [Soma] (1X.85.4).

As S.S. Gupta says in the introduction: "I humbly hope and pray that this small study may persuade scholars to take up more intensive studies with the help of research methodologies and with the help of available knowledge of various subjects. … If this happens it will be a good day for India and the world."

Best way to teach preschoolers

LOVE THIS BOOK and it's accompanying preschool program! I used it with 8 of my children. It taught me how to be a good mom, and a fun mom. It gave me monthly objectives on how to focus and teach the individual concepts. For example: Joy of the Earth, Joy of the Body, Joy of Gratitude and Thanksgiving, Joy of Spontaneous Delight, Joy of Feelings. Preschool program had puppet shows on teaching all these things, art projects, sweet songs written especially for this program. ABSOLUTELY THE BEST PRESCHOOL PROGRAM, and I have looked at many, including Montessori.

This book has truely helped me understand my two year old. I have learned to appreciate the simple joys he finds in his life, and I have learned to let him enjoy them. I read this book last week and have since put these principles into action. I have noticed a significant difference in everyone's attitudes.

This is one of my favourite parenting books, along with other books by the same authors. What I really like about it is that the book focuses on prevention and on how to raise children, not just what to do when there are problems. I highly recommend this book!

Duncan Brown is Influencer50's Head of European Operations. He has 18 years of experience in the IT industry, firstly as a software developer and latterly as an Industry analyst. I am a big fan of books that actually include case studies of companies that implemented the techniques taught. This is one of those books. With the rise of blogs, wikis and social media, old school marketing is nowhere near what it used to be. No matter what industry you're in or size of business, this book offers gems of knowledge you can immediately apply. It may also have you re-consider your marketing budget.

WORTHWHILE READ!

A really interesting read. It's written in an easy-going style and the authors seem to know what they're talking about. It's very B2B focused - so much so that they have devoted a specific chapter on B2C - and I found myself questioning if some of their assumptions apply to the everyday consumer as well. In the end I decided they did, but the book is really for those trying to understand how influencers affect purchase decisions in business.

I've tried to read other books on influence but they proved too dry and science-based. This is a much better read, whether you're new to the subject or experienced. It also has case studies of actual examples showing how companies have identified and worked with influencers. I'd recommend it.

“PRINCE Eravis,” he said, lifting one eyebrow to a haughty angle. “Let’s not forget our manners, my thorny little rosebud.”

“Let’s also not forget that I roasted twenty peacocks today.” Heidel’s eyes roved disdainfully over Eravis’ attire. He favored dark colors, deep reds and blues and greens, always set off by a jeweled belt or heavy gold neck chain. “Apparently I missed one.”

To her surprise, Eravis belted a loud laugh. “Well, no harm done! I see you put away the extra stuffing.” His eyes fell to Heidel’s waist.

Heidel’s teeth ground together. Yes, her body packed more padding than the other princesses. But she liked it. It made her curves curvier, her stature sturdier. She considered herself a plow horse, strong and solid, so much more useful than her parade pony sisters.

But she had no stomach for teasing.

Worse yet, she had nothing to retort. Eravis was handsome, of normal height and weight. His smile was bright; his gray eyes the sort that made silly maidens wriggle: large and intense. His thick black hair was purposely rumpled, dangling a few wavy locks on his brow.

“Get out of here, Eravis,” Heidel growled. “I have to serve the cake.”

“Oh, is THAT what you call this frightful confection!” Eravis waved a hand at it, grinning. “Well, I’m sure it was beautiful before the earthquake.”

Heidel, perfect from her pigtails to her diminutive nature (if this were a fairy tale that is)... but wait..it is a fairy tale and not your typical one, :) shows us that even being a princess you can have emotions, bite and wit, sarcasm and playfulness and still have love for your fellow man. If you just can't get past that one pesky boy you sparred wits and wildness against in your formative years.. who are you to be held blame. After all, he gives as good as he gets, and boy does he make sure to keep coming back for more. This is a truly juicy and fun filled book, and although I'm recuperating from surgery, I didn't want to put it down for a minute. I'm so glad you are back to the writing table, Ms Valle, (as I've looked forward to the new book in the series for awhile now *thanks for the free copy), and hope the other 6 princesses come forward soon. God Bless for such a lovely book to while away my recovery hrs. I think I'll go enjoy Heidel and her sisters from the start again. Yes, they are all that good! :))

Another sweet, different novella

I really enjoyed this novella, as I enjoyed the first two. The premise if the nine princesses is unique, as are the individual characters featured in each story. I like how Valle focuses on closely developing only certain characters in each novella. The novella series is a great medium for Valle; she makes each story concise without being scant and she offers just enough detail of the series' overarching plot points without detracting from the story at hand. Some series novelists really drag out their individual novels to the point if tedium, while others only connect their separate novel s by featuring the same characters but no common conflict. I love how Valle is able to tell each princess' story within the bigger picture that affects them all.
My review is not five stars because of some minor concerns. Copyediting is needed in some of these novellas. I am a stickler for language mechanics, and there were some errors here (though not enough to make me stop reading). Also, I thought the prologue was a bit obvious. I would have preferred that information to be given in a less hackneyed way.
Overall, Anita Valle is a promising writer, and I look forward to reading the next book in her series.

This book was excellent! I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I think Heidel is my favorite princess so far. This is a book for all ages.
