About the Author
Si Millican is assistant professor of music education at the University of Texas at San Antonio where he teaches coursework in instrumental music education. Prior to his university work, Dr. Millican taught public school for 13 years at the high-school and middle-school levels.

Awesome book

Dr. Millican's book is a joy to read. It focuses on teaching not only the traditional beginning band student but gives suggestions for how to teach the older, non-traditional student. His suggestions for the classroom are a big help to the beginning teacher who faces challenges in the classroom on a daily basis.
