This, and the corresponding "Supplemental Repertoire", were recommended by my music teacher. I like the format and structure because they allow me to move along at my own pace without being overwhelmed at any time. Each chapter presents the subject in just enough detail to give you the confidence to say '...hey I can do this..', then provides several etudes in increasing depth, and a few songs to tie it all together. I would recommend this book, along with the supplement, to any adult who is playing for the first time or returning to the piano after a lengthy hiatus (mine lasted about 60 years) in their musical endeavors.

book not spiral bound as described so it doesn't lay flat on the piano which makes it very difficult to use--contents not great--waste of money
